Hey guys! Welcome back to regular posting after a long exam season. Summer is starting even though the weather begs to differ here in Ireland. I hate the rain and the cold in the summer so I adore making myself feel like it's summer using make up.
I recently went to Brown Thomas in Limerick to #TreatYoSelf. I had not yet seen the Charlotte TIlbury counter in store and I almost cried because I love Charlotte's tutorials on YouTube (check them out if you haven't they are incredible!) and because they are so expensive I didn't want to order online because I need to swatch products (joys of being pale with sensitive skin...)
I was approached by the amazing Niamh O'Dwyer (@enody89 on the 'gram), the lead makeup artist at the counter to do my make up.
We decided to go for a look inspired by the "Golden Goddess" look by Charlotte because I had an interview that afternoon.
Niamh started off by cleansing my skin using the Multi-Miracle Glow cleanser which can also be used as a mask. For someone with extra sensitive skin like me, this cleanser was very gentle and left my skin feeling really fresh.
My skin was moisturised using Charlotte's famous Magic Cream, which I have been dying to try since I first heard about it. Oh boy oh boy, it did not disappoint! It's a really thick cream which is incredibly hydrating. I also put some on my hands and they felt so soft and smooth all day. I think I may be slightly in love, not going to lie.
We finished off prepping my skin using the Lip Magic balm and Wonderglow. Lip Magic had the same effect as the Magic Cream leaving my lips feeling hydrated. Wonderglow left this gorgeous dewy look over my skin. I honestly would just wear it by itself for a natural everyday no foundation but still want to have something to emphasise my features look.
For foundation, I chose to try out the Magic Foundation in 1 over the Wonderglow foundation because the Magic one is a fuller coverage ranging to from a medium to full coverage and is buildable. I wanted to try out a more full coverage because at the moment, I'm using MAC's Face and Body in NC15. This foundation suited my skin tone very well which I was really pleased with. It lasted all day and didn't wear off or become either patchy or cakey in places. I also found that the colour in the bottle is very true to how it is on the skin because it doesn't oxidise the way others do. The coverage was probably my favourite part because it was full but still gave a natural look on the skin.
We concealed with the Retoucher also in the shade 1. This to me looked incredibly similar in design and packaging to the YSL Touche Eclat. The concealer was a creamy consistency with a natural and brightening effect to my under eyes. Not covering my permanent dark circles entirely but making sure I looked more awake than I had looked before.
We set the concealer and foundation with the Airbrush Flawless Finish in shade 1. This was a really lovely powder. I'm not the biggest fan of setting my makeup using a powder because I find it can look quite cakey after a while. This, did not and gave a soft matte finish.
We bronzed up and highlighted my skin so I really got the "Golden Goddess Effect" using the Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette in Light. I adore this oh my gosh, the highlight was amazing and the bronzer is a somewhat coolish tone and in no way orange like others I've used.
For my eyes, we went with the cream shadow Eyes to Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette, which is a gorgeous rose gold shade. It is so blendable and again buildable. I love how pigmented it is and can be used as either a base or just a shadow by itself.
My eyes were lined in very subtle manner on my top lashes in the shade Audrey which is a fabulous neutral brown.
Next, we used the Full Fat Lashes Mascara, I honestly wasn't that impressed with this product. I've used ones that work better for my lashes and I found it to be a bit clumpy. However, I didn't have any fall down by the end of the day.
To fill in my brows Niamh used the Brow Lift in Cara D (Named after the eyebrow QUEEN), I loved the natural look it gave my brows because I can't stand #InstaBrows (I think they look ridiculous on me). The angled pencil is great for drawing in really fine strokes to mimic hair. I prefer this sort of a brow product to a pomade because of how easy it is to use and much easier to carry around for top ups to keep your brows looking 'on fleek'.
For lips, Niamh lined my lips with the Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk (Am I the only one who automatically sings Zayn's Pillow Talk when they hear that name?) This is a gorgeous mauve nude which is perfect for just using as a liner and even overlining because of the shade.
On my lips, was Stoned Rose from the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Collection which is DIVINE. K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipsticks are a creamy sheen finish and Stoned Rose is is a mix of a coral and a rose shade. I love natural shades for every day and also for going out with a smokey eye. I think Stoned Rose is a gorgeous shade that is so versatile.
For a gloss, Niamh used High Society gloss on top. I'm not a gloss fan at all but I was pleasantly surprised by this gloss. It wasn't overly sticky and even in wind my hair wasn't sticking to it which is one of the main reasons I hate gloss. The depth the gloss gave the lips was stunning and really highlighted the colours from the lipstick.
All in all, I really liked the Charlotte Tilbury products which Niamh used on me. I purchased the Eyes to Mesmerise and the Lip Cheat and Lipstick. Out of all the products used those were by far my favourites. However, I will be going back and purchasing the Magic Cream, the Filmstar Bronze and Glow and also the Brow Lift.
Also can we talk about the packaging? Because it is so beautiful! I am a serious sucker for pretty packaging. The way they're designed with the dark brown box with the rose gold accents draws your eyes in immediately. The gold packaging on the lipstick and liner just screams luxury. They are probably one of the most gorgeous and detail orientated packages out there.
Charlotte Tilbury products are high end and very expensive, especially for a college student. However, the quality of the products and based on how long they lasted for during the day, I would purchase them again and also recommend them. I will be buying so much more Charlotte Tilbury once I get money to feed my addiction. In my opinion, it's worth every penny.
Hope you enjoyed this review and let me know if you want to see any more brand reviews and possible duplicates for these products!
